Kenya Safaris
Where the word "safari" began: big cats, the Great Migration and Kilimanjaro on the horizon.
Why travel here
Kenya is East Africa's most varied safari country. The Maasai Mara and its private conservancies hold some of Africa's densest big-cat populations and host the northern stage of the Great Wildebeest Migration. Short light-aircraft hops from Nairobi (40 to 60 minutes to the Mara) make a seamless fly-in journey easy.
What you will experience
- Maasai Mara & private conservancies: big cats, the Migration, and Mara River crossings (mostly August to September).
- Amboseli National Park: large elephant herds framed by Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Laikipia, Lewa & Ol Pejeta: black and white rhino, walking, horse and camel safaris, Grevy's zebra.
- Samburu: the arid north and its "Samburu Special Five".
- Nairobi: Giraffe Manor, the Sheldrick elephant orphanage and lions against a city skyline.
- The coast: Diani and Watamu beaches and Lamu's UNESCO old town.
