Rwanda Gorilla Safaris
Land of a Thousand Hills: an hour with mountain gorillas, in Africa's finest forest lodges.
Why travel here
Rwanda is compact, safe and built for high-value, low-volume travel. Volcanoes National Park is about 2.5 hours by road from Kigali, so a gorilla trek fits even a three-day trip, and the country has Africa's densest cluster of ultra-luxury gorilla lodges. Longer journeys add chimpanzees in Nyungwe, Big Five safari in Akagera, and Lake Kivu.
What you will experience
- Volcanoes National Park: mountain gorillas, golden monkeys and the Dian Fossey Karisoke trail.
- Nyungwe National Park: ancient rainforest with chimpanzees, 13 primate species, a canopy walk and zipline.
- Akagera National Park: Big Five savanna and boat safaris on Lake Ihema.
- Lake Kivu: lakeside rest, Napoleon Island and the Congo Nile Trail.
- Kigali: the Genocide Memorial, Kimironko Market, galleries and fine dining.
