Uganda Safaris
The Pearl of Africa: mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and the mighty Nile.
Why travel here
Uganda combines mountain gorillas in Bwindi and Mgahinga, East Africa's best chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, and classic savanna safaris in Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls. It is the only country offering the four-hour Gorilla Habituation Experience, and its gorilla permit costs about half of Rwanda's. Short flights from Entebbe to Kihihi or Kisoro keep premium journeys smooth.
What you will experience
- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: home to about half the world's mountain gorillas, across four trekking sectors.
- Kibale National Park: the primate capital, with chimpanzees and 13 primate species.
- Queen Elizabeth National Park: Kazinga Channel boat safaris, Ishasha's tree-climbing lions and chimps in Kyambura Gorge.
- Murchison Falls: the Nile forcing through a 7-metre gorge, Nubian giraffe and shoebill.
- Mgahinga Gorilla National Park: Virunga volcano hikes, gorillas, golden monkeys and Batwa heritage.
- Kidepo Valley: remote northern wilderness, reached by air.
